JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Almost five years after a 19-year-old was shot and killed at the Valencia Way Apartments in 2019, an arrest was made in her murder.
Court records show Gary Legg, 24, was charged with manslaughter in Courtney McCoy’s case.
McCoy was found shot inside a second-floor apartment on April 30 after a gun went off inside the bedroom. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, Leg and McCoy were in the apartment together. Legg was holding the gun when it discharged and struck McCoy, police said.
Over the years, her family and friends grew desperate for answers about what led to the teen’s death.
