School bus collision in Columbia County leaves 3 students hurt

COLUMBIA COUNY, Fla. – Three students were injured in a Monday afternoon school bus crash in Columbia County.

The crash happened a little after 3:30 p.m. when a Columbia County school bus was stopped on State Road 47 at SW Sedgefield Lane to drop off students from Fort White Middle and High School, troopers said.

FHP said a Toyota Camry traveling south on SR-47 did not stop before slamming into the rear of a Ford F-350 that was stopped to adhere to the right of way of the school bus.

The impact caused the pickup truck to crash into the front of the school bus.

The bus was carrying 14 students plus the 55-year-old driver at the time of the crash.

Three students suffered minor injuries, and the truck driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to FHP.
