2 teens killed in shooting at apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Northside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two teenagers were killed in a shooting early Sunday at an apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Northside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police said around 4:30 a.m., they responded to reports of a shooting at the Island Pointe Apartments on Island Point Drive. When they arrived, they found two teenage boys suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Both victims died at the scene, police said.

On Monday, JSO identified the victims as 16-year-old Travaris J. Odol and 16-year-old Stanley K. Merriweather.

Police said they do not believe the victims lived at the apartment complex.

“It’s usually quiet. Nothing like this ever happens,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous.

According to JSO, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still unknown and under investigation. Police also said they believe this is an isolated incident and there is no additional threat to the community.
