Man found fatally shot after officers hear gunfire near New Town neighborhood: JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was found on Eaverson Street with what appeared to be gunshot wounds around 8 p.m. Thursday after officers on nearby Beaver Street heard gunfire, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said.
Paramedics responded to the area, but the man died at the scene.
Detectives with the JSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded and are conducting an investigation.
Sgt. Ray Reeves with the JSO Homicide Unit said it appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
