FSU student organization to hold vigil for those affected by the shooting that left 2 dead, 6 injured

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A Florida State University student organization will hold a vigil to mourn those affected by the shooting that left two dead and six others injured.

Police said Phoenix Ikner, 20, the son of a Leon County Sheriff’s Office deputy, was arrested after he was accused of the shooting. He was shot by law enforcement and taken to a local hospital.

The two dead victims were not FSU students.

The FSU College Democrats said that it will hold a vigil for those affected by the shooting on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. on Landis Green.

They released a statement that reads in part:

"As the situation unfolds, we are sensitive to those grieving in our student body and their friends and families. For them, this is not a moment of politics but one of tragedy. It breaks our hearts that this violence continues to plague Florida schools," the organization said.
