How an anonymous tip to First Coast Crime Stoppers likely saved a missing woman’s life

A 21-year-old woman who was believed to be in danger was reported missing in Jacksonville, and a phone call to First Coast Crime Stoppers likely saved her life.

The woman, who is from Minnesota, disappeared in Jacksonville under what were considered “suspicious” circumstances.

She had not been seen since April 21, and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office issued a missing persons alert for her on May 1.

Two days later, the life-saving anonymous tip came in.

“This was the first time in 2 weeks of her disappearance that anyone had reported possibly seeing her alive,” explained Chase Robinson, the executive director for FCCS.

News4JAX is not naming the woman for privacy reasons.

Within 4 minutes, the call center called JSO, and they sent an officer to investigate the location given in the tip, Robinson said.

“(She) was located alive and in need of immediate medical assistance and mental health services,” Robinson said.

Robinson said a situation like this is exactly why the FCCS exists -- to serve as a bridge between the community and law enforcement without anyone ever knowing your name.
