Following his death, dozens posted tributes to the beloved coach.

That sentiment was echoed in the comments below the post.

“My kids just told me the news and they are devastated. They both loved Mr. Polite and are in disbelief currently. I just sat and listened to them share stories of Mr. Polite. His impact on not just mine but many children will be a beautiful legacy of all the little lives he has changed and made better. Our community sure did lose a bright light. Praying for his family during this difficult time,” one commenter wrote.

Polite was the owner of a mobile food truck called Big D’s BBQ. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing and being a disc jockey. He was also a member of a motorcycle club.
