ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – A man working for a subcontractor died on Friday after he fell off a 15-foot ladder while working at St. Augustine City Hall in the Lightner Museum, according to a spokesperson for St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
The man, who worked for Blanchard Coating and Caulking, was taken to Flagler Hospital, where he died.
“A team member of Blanchard Caulking and Coating experienced a medical incident on Friday morning. It is with deep sadness that we can report that he has passed away. Out of respect for the deceased family we have nothing further to report,” a spokesperson with Blanchard Caulking and Coating said.
A St. Augustine Police social media post said that City Hall closed at noon on Friday because of the construction-related accident.
It will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, June 23.
