Former UN ambassador discusses Israel-Hamas deal, says key points remain unsolved

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The next steps for Israel and Gaza remain unclear. Even as U.S. President Donald Trump hailed the end of the war and despite signing an agreement to seek peace in the Middle East, there is no sign of when high-level talks on next steps will begin.

There was an interesting dynamic played out in the Gaza peace accord that led to the ceasefire and release of the hostages. Before the details were worked out, there was no sequenced roadmap or painstaking architecture to provide a foundation for a lasting and durable peace. That is counter to traditional US foreign policy.
