On Nov. 15, police responded to reports of a dead man along the side of East 15th Street near Phoenix Avenue. He was identified as Maurice Solomon, 27.

The next day, someone notified police of a dead woman under a bridge along Blanding Boulevard, identified as Tiffany Felton, 35.

Detectives identified Curtis Asberry as the suspect in both cases and arrested him on Nov. 17 on unrelated charges.

On Friday, he was charged with Solomon’s and Felton’s murders, JSO said.

JSO said Felton’s death was one of the cases that fueled false rumors of a serial killer in Jacksonville. The sheriff’s office said her case is not related to the other two women’s killings.

One of those cases resulted in a murder arrest and the other is still under investigation.
