Pieter Kort, alongside representatives of Coker Law, made this charitable donation to say “thank you” for UF Health’s care after a tragic accident in March 2022.
Kort, who lives in Ontario, Canada, was driving back home from vacation on 301 with his wife and four children when a cement truck hit the back of their minivan just outside of Gainesville, killing two of his kids, and injuring his two other children and his wife.
The family members received care and treatment at UF Health in Jacksonville.
Some of the staff who worked that night were even able to reunite with Kort on Monday morning.
“I just have the feeling of a community that embraced me and helped us in our most difficult time, so it’s a good feeling to be here. And I also appreciate the fact that everyone’s here to meet me and, if anything, it gave me a chance to say a small ‘thank you’ for everything they did for my family,” Kort said.
All donations went to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Kort said his wife and two kids, Hannah and Ethan, have all made a full recovery.
