CCSO said deputies found Jordyn Forrestier, 20, and Noely Makenda, 21, dead in the front yard with multiple gunshot wounds. Lomax lived with the two women as roommates and they all served together in the Navy.

Lomax’s wife went to the residence to visit her husband and began arguing with his roommates, the sheriff’s office said. It escalated to a physical fight in the front yard, then Lomax grabbed his handgun and shot at them about 30 times, CCSO said.

His wife called 911 to report the incident.

Lomax stayed at the scene and he was taken into custody with his wife. Lomax was charged with two counts of second-degree murder and his wife was released, CCSO said. Lomax has a bond hearing scheduled for Friday.

A man who lives on that street, who did not want to be identified, told News4JAX he heard the gunshots.

“I heard eight to 10 shots. I was in my back bedroom. Me and my wife jumped up, ran to the front, but we could not see. my wife said to call 911, so I called 911. The dispatcher said ‘Do not go out, stay inside and we will dispatch someone,’” he said.

Ashley Durham, who has lived in the neighborhood for about 15 years, said she was in her garage at the time and also heard gunshots.

“I was walking through the garage, and I heard popping noises. I am like ‘OK, I know they are not doing construction. It is not fireworks.’ I went back into the house and did not think anything of it. It is just too close to home. It is very scary because they are kids and we usually do not have crime in this neighborhood. I just feel sorry for the victims,” Durham said.
