JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jaguars are the talk of the town after concluding a stellar bounce-back season with an AFC South championship and a 13-4 record, but one fan was able to take the concept of “putting the team on their back” to new levels after the team’s 41-7 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
In a now-viral video posted to social media, a fan named Natasha Lane was able to meet some Jaguars players, including quarterback Trevor Lawrence, at Pete’s Bar in Neptune Beach.
But that’s not the best part of the video.
According to Natasha, she had a unique request for the Jags QB. She wanted Lawrence’s permission to lift him and perform a squat with him on her back.
“I was waiting for the friend and out walks Trevor Lawrence, and instead of asking for a picture, I asked to squat him instead,” Lane said. “His reaction was very shocked. He looked at me and asked if I was being serious, and I said, ‘I very much am.’”
Lawrence agreed, and the rest is viral video history.
Lane, a disabled veteran, says she did five squats with the Jags leader on her shoulders.
“After I put him down he stood there for a second and, whoa, you’re a very strong woman. I said, ‘Thanks, I work out,’” she explained.
In the video, Lawrence is seen dangling his 6′6 frame across Natasha’s upper back as she holds one of his arms to maintain balance before she descends to the ground and rises again. She is captured performing at least three reps in the video, which has been posted to various national outlets such as SportsCenter and Overtime.
Afterward, Lane said she got a photo with Lawrence and got to hang out with him and his teammates for a bit. She posted the video online, not expecting it to go viral.
“I woke up this morning and next thing I know it’s everywhere and I’m still kind of shocked to be honest,” she said.
Comments on the video range from disbelief to comedy. “This gotta be AI,” one user wrote. Another said, “I love [that Trevor] just let it happen...my knee would’ve snapped in half.”
However, one of the more comedic comments read, “Friend, what did I tell you about picking up strange men at the bars?”
And for Lane, she’s already preparing for the next time she manages to run into Trevor again, and has a simple question ready to go when the time comes.
“Can I squat you again? You know, this time I’ll have better form.”
