Man, 19, suspected of killing his cousin in Lake City found dead in the woods: CCSO

LAKE CITY, Fla. – A man suspected of killing his cousin Saturday evening in Lake City was found dead in the woods, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.

According to CCSO, 19-year-old Tyndale M. Mullins was found dead in the woods about three hours after deputies found his cousin, identified as 27-year-old Tina Farmer, shot to death on SW Journey Court in Lake City.

Around 4:07 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call about a person who had been shot on SW Journey Court.

According to CCSO, when deputies arrived, they found Farmer dead with a gunshot wound to the head.

Deputies said information provided by witnesses allowed them to quickly set up a perimeter in the surrounding wooded area.

Officials then issued a shelter-in-place for the SW Journey Court and CR-242 area as deputies searched for an “armed man.”

Several agencies responded to the scene, including the Lake City Police Department, Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Department of Corrections, Florida Wildlife Commission, and the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.

“These units included K-9, SWAT, and Drone Teams who were able to track and locate the suspect’s exact location prior to making contact,” CCSO wrote in a news release.

Mullins was found dead in the woods shortly after 7 p.m., deputies said.

Deputies said all family members have been notified of the incident.

CCSO said the investigation is ongoing, and the specifics of what led up to the shooting are not fully known at this time. News4JAX is working to learn how Mullins died.
