PALATKA, Fla. – A 17-year-old boy was charged in connection with the shooting death of another 17-year-old boy in Palatka on Saturday evening, according to the Palatka Police Department.
Police said officers responded to reports of a person who had been shot in the area of West Main Street.

When officers arrived, they found Lawrence Evans, 17, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Evans was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died, police said.
According to Palatka Police, Montravien Oxendine, 17, was on scene with Evans at the time of the incident, and was “determined to be responsible for the shooting.”
Oxendine was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence, officials said.
Oxendine is being held at the juvenile detention center in Volusia County.
