Jaguars, Bills fans fill local bars ahead of playoff game

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Fans of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are filling downtown and local bars ahead of the game tomorrow at EverBank Stadium, with people in team shirts and hats seen across the city.

Several local spots are hosting watch parties and game-day events for fans without stadium tickets:

  • Sip on the Roof, 323 E. Bay St., will hold a watch party on its roof.
  • MVPs Sports Grill is hosting a watch party and offering a free shot every time the Jaguars score.
  • Keg & Coin will host a watch party with beer deals.
  • A large Jaguars vs. Bills bonfire organized by High Quality Promotions is planned at 6001 N. Main St.; organizers said they expect thousands of people and will provide large TVs, projectors, food trucks and security.

Aaron and Brenda, who are Bills fans, said they expect a strong showing from fellow Buffalo supporters.

“I expect a lot of Bills fans there tomorrow. I see them everywhere. I think it’s going to be about 30 percent of the crowd tomorrow, I’m guessing,” they said.

They joked and said some Bills fans will “jump through a table and drink some beer,” if they lose.

Jaguars fans Cindy and Andres said local enthusiasm for Jacksonville’s team has been visible everywhere they go.

“Every time we walk around with our Jags hats, everybody says something. Everybody on this road walk stops and says, ‘Go Jags,’” Cindy said. “We were at dinner last night in St. Augustine. The waiter had his Jags hat on and made a point of coming over and saying, ‘Go Jags.’”

Andres said while the Bills are a tough team, He is optimistic the Jaguars will win.
