JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A corrections officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was arrested on Wednesday in Flagler County and is accused of battery and witness tampering, according to police.
JSO said that deputies with the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jose Guerra, 54, on Wednesday afternoon after receiving calls in reference to a reported battery.

When deputies arrived at the scene, the victim told them that after a verbal argument, they were battered by Guerra.
Guerra, who is a 19-year veteran with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, was taken into custody and subsequently placed in the Flagler County Jail.
The agency added that he has been suspended without pay pending termination.
The arrest is the third involving an employee with JSO in 2026, police said.
