Baker County man found fatally shot in home, deputy shot, taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

The suspect was critically injured, the sheriff’s office said.

BAKER COUNTY, Fla. – The Baker County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that a man was fatally shot in a home and a deputy was shot in the arm but is expected to recover.

The sheriff’s office said at 5:19 p.m. that deputies responded to a report of domestic violence off of Harry Rewis Road. Officials said a man was shot by a family member.

BCSO said deputies approached the home and they were shot at. They returned fire and critically wounded the suspect. He was placed into custody and they found a dead man in the home.

One deputy was shot in the arm and he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the sheriff’s office said.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating the officer-involved shooting.
