JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two women were shot Sunday night in Northwest Jacksonville, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
According to JSO, the shooting happened around 9:18 p.m. on Brook Forest Drive, near 45th Street.
JSO Sergeant Richardson said early investigation revealed a woman and a man, who have “ongoing issues,” got into an argument at the woman’s home.
During the argument, the man pulled out a handgun and started shooting in the direction of the woman.
According to police, the woman then returned fire and struck the suspect’s girlfriend, who was inside his car.
Officers quickly responded and were able to detain the suspect.
“This appears to be an isolated incident where the victim and the suspect know each other,” police said.
Both women were transported to a hospital in stable condition.
According to JSO, the woman had a license to carry a weapon, but the suspect did not.
