JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man died in a hospital Wednesday evening after being shot on Jacksonville’s Westside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Around 7:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of shorts fired on 103rd Street, near Monroe Smith Road.
According to JSO, as officers were on their way to the shooting location, a man arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Police later learned that the man had been transported to a hospital in a personal car.
The man died at the hospital shortly after he arrived, police said.
According to JSO, “individuals” have been transported to the Police Memorial Building to be interviewed. It is unclear how many people were being questioned.
JSO said the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated, which is why the classification of this incident is still pending.
