CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a man accused of fatally stabbing a man on Monday in an apartment complex parking lot.
Charles Franklin Jones Jr. is charged with second-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and depriving a victim of access to 911 and knowingly driving with a suspended license, the sheriff’s office said.
Jones was taken into custody after a traffic stop in Orange Park on Thursday.
Detectives said the incident started as a pre-planned meeting after several days of communication between the two. The sheriff’s office is still trying to learn the reason for the meeting.
Billy Clark Foster was, 38, was stabbed multiple times and he drove to the Winn-Dixie located across the street for help where deputies found him.
Foster was taken to the hospital, where he died.
