INTERLACHEN, Fla. – Days after having to close two schools in Interlachen because smoke from a wildfire had reduced visibility to “essentially zero,” the Putnam County School District announced another closure on Friday.
Because of poor visibility, the following roads were closed Friday morning in the Interlachen area:

- CR 315 South from SR 20 to CR 310
- Keuka Road from SR 20 to SR 21
- Strickland Road
Although the roads have since reopened, the closures affected travel for families and buses in the area, so Robert H. Jenkins Elementary School is closed on Friday.
All other Putnam County schools are open on Friday.
With roads now open, West End transportation has resumed, and bus routes are operating as normal.
Officials urged parents not to leave students at any bus stops unattended, as buses might not be able to access all areas.
“Safety remains our top priority. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work closely with local authorities and continue to monitor road and visibility conditions. Please continue to watch for updates,” the district wrote.
