JSO says it’s investigating a ‘discharging of a firearm’ near Avenues Mall There is a large police presence at the mall.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Saturday that it is investigating a “discharging of a firearm” near the Avenues Mall.
News4JAX saw majority of the mall outside the furniture store covered with crime scene tape as investigators assess the scene.
Someone called News4JAX and said her son was inside with his girlfriend and she heard panic and people screaming as she tried to speak with her son. The woman also said her son heard one gunshot as he escaped the mall.
News4JAX is working to determine if the shot was fired inside or near the mall.
