Student on e-bike critically injured after being hit by car in front of Patriot Oaks Academy in St. Johns County: SJCFR

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. – A student on an e-bike was critically injured in St. Johns County after being hit by a car on Tuesday, the school district confirmed to News4JAX.

The St. Johns County School District said the child was on an e-bike in front of Patriot Oaks Academy on Long Leaf Parkway in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office also said it was working on a vehicle vs. pedestrian investigation involving a pediatric patient.

All lanes of Long Leaf Pine Pkwy, near the academy, are closed until further notice.

The student suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the St. Johns County Fire Rescue department.

Witnesses said paramedics attempted to use a defibrillator on scene, but the victim was not responding. A helmet was also seen on the ground near the bike, but it’s unclear if the victim was wearing any protection at the time of the accident.
