JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Councilman Joe Carlucci said in a written statement sent to News4JAX that the Southside Tennis Courts in San Marco will remain at their current location following strong community feedback about possibly moving the courts.
“Based on feedback from the Tennis & Pickleball Community, we will not be moving any further with the idea/concept of moving the Southside Tennis Complex to an under-bridge location. Please be assured that all courts will remain at its current location,” Carlucci said.

The response was enough to alter the project’s direction.
Carlucci said that rather than relocation, the Parks Department has been asked to develop plans for improvements that the community will support.
“Specifically, we will be looking for ways to improve the current location with lighting, bathroom improvements, and more gathering spaces.”
News4JAX reached out to the mayor’s office and is awaiting a response.
