Cold weather shelters open across Northeast Florida to help those in need

ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. – As temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s across Northeast Florida over the next few days, counties are opening shelters for those in need.

Duval County

The City Rescue Mission will open its doors from Monday to Tuesday at 5 p.m. for those needing a place to stay warm. It is located at 234 W. State Street.

St. Johns County

St. Johns County will open a cold weather shelter located at Grace United Methodist Church on 8 Carrera Street. It will open on Sunday at 8:30 p.m.

County officials remind residents to take additional cold-weather safety measures, including checking on elderly neighbors, bringing pets indoors, and using space heaters safely.

Bradford County

The Bradford County Sheriff’s Office is opening its lobby to become a warming center.

It is located at 945-N North Temple Avenue in Starke and will open on Sunday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 8 a.m.
