Habitat for Humanity inviting women to help build affordable homes in St. Johns County

Habitat for Humanity of St. Johns County needs women volunteers to help build homes in its newest habitat neighborhood in Volusia Woods.

The build is March 6th and 7th, with four hour shifts available both days. Women do not need any experience, nor do they need to bring anything with them other than comfortable clothes and water.

Volusia Woods is a collection of homes built by Habitat St. Johns, profiting affordable housing to families that would otherwise not able to afford to buy their own home. Each recipient is required to put in sweat equity and attend financial literacy classes as part of the requirements before receiving a home, which is financed at a reduced interest rate.

If you would like to participate in the women’s build, search habitatstjohns.org. Executive Director, Malinda Everson, joined News4Jax Anchor Jennifer Waugh during News4JAX+ at 10 a.m. to explain the challenges of finding affordable housing in St. Johns County and how women can sign up to volunteer.
