DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. – The Duval County Public Schools Police Department is investigating what the district is calling a ‘deeply troubling incident’ involving a district bus operated by one of its contracted transportation vendors.
The district said based on preliminary information, an unauthorized person was allowed onto a bus enroute to Riverside High School while approximately five to seven students were on board.

The district says bus video indicates the individual briefly reached over and touched a student on the knee.
School officials said the person exited the bus shortly after the behavior was reported and was on board for less than a minute. When the bus arrived at school, the district said administrators immediately ensured the students were safe, provided support, and notified families.
The district says this remains an active investigation, and it is working closely with the appropriate authorities. The district also said it’s very concerned that established safety protocols were not followed by our transportation vendor. Once the investigation is complete, the district said it will take any and all appropriate action.
