JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said a 50-year-old man died on Friday evening after he was shot near the city’s Oceanway neighborhood.
According to police, the deadly shooting occurred around 5:45 p.m. on Vernis Avenue, and the circumstances that led to the shooting are unknown.
One person of interest related to the incident was taken to the Police Memorial Building to be interviewed, but no other information regarding a suspect has been released.
The incident is under investigation by the State Attorney’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office, and there is no danger to the public.
