Body cam footage shows JSO officers rescuing toddler accidentally locked in car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office police officers quickly rescued a toddler who was accidentally locked inside a car on March 2.

The mother immediately called for help and Officers Shawn Crocker and Phil Massicotte arrived at River City Marketplace within five minutes.

JSO said the toddler unbuckled himself from his car seat, making it dangerous for the officers to shatter the car window to open the door.

The officers used tools to unlock the door and returned the toddler to his mother in less than 10 minutes.

JSO warned parents and drivers that the weather is warming up and cars can get hot fast, even with the windows cracked. It’s important to call JSO as soon as possible for help.
