JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – And just like that, we are back!
Welcome to season two of “Voices of the 904“!
On the premiere episode, we sat down with Dana Michelle at the J.P. Small Memorial Park Museum in the historic Durkeeville neighborhood.
Her innate love for the neighborhood she calls home sparked a curiosity to learn more about the community that shaped her, ultimately leading to the creation of Northside Pride, an organization dedicated to celebrating and preserving the culture and history of Jacksonville’s Northside.
FEATURE EPISODE | Live from LaVilla edition - A conversation on Black history and culture
As a cultural historian extraordinaire and “Your Northside Neighbor,” her deep-rooted advocacy is a love letter to Durkeeville, Moncrief, Grand Park and other Northside communities.
Her work, including the “Front Porch History” Project and the “Moncrief Springs” documentary, serves as an ode to preserving local Black history while reshaping perceptions of the Northside as a vibrant place to eat, shop and explore.
