CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – Members of the public and media are being given rare access Wednesday to watch bomb squads and explosive ordnance disposal teams train for worst-case scenarios during the Army-backed Raven Challenge.
Organizers describe the Raven Challenge as a multi-location, year-round series of exercises designed to bring together local, state and federal bomb teams.
The training emphasizes equipment familiarity, rapid decision-making and responding under pressure during realistic scenarios.
The VIP Day at Camp Blanding is intended to show invited members of the public how teams work and to demonstrate tools and procedures used during responses.
The training will run through the end of this week, and it’s important to keep in mind that this training is an annual event, it’s routine, so if you hear loud booms and noises, there is no cause for concern.
