Local health professionals discuss maternal health and resources for mothers in the local community

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – News4JAX is taking a closer look at the health of moms and babies in our community this morning.

New 2024 data shows Duval County is seeing higher birth rates than the state average — but fewer moms are getting early prenatal care, and more are going without care altogether.

That’s where community partnerships are stepping in — including a big event happening this weekend aimed at supporting expectant mothers and new families.

Joining News4JAX+ at 10:30 a.m. is Dr. Pauline Rolle, Chairman of the annual community baby shower, and Mia Jones with Agape Family Health.

Watch the full interview above.

The 4th Annual Community Baby Shower is happening Sat. April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Legends Center on Soutel Drive.

Space is limited, so registration is required. Register on Eventbrite.
