JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was hospitalized after being shot at a Northwest Jacksonville motel early Wednesday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Officers responded to the Sunshine Inn on New Kings Road in the Magnolia Gardens area, at approximately 6:39 a.m. after reports of a shooting. A man in his mid-thirties was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.

According to investigators, an unknown suspect knocked on the man’s front door. The victim opened the door, then asked the suspect to leave. The suspect walked into the parking lot and fired multiple shots toward the victim’s room. One round struck the victim in the leg.
The victim’s girlfriend was also inside the room at the time of the shooting.
The suspect drove away from the area in a white sedan. Detectives are reviewing surveillance video from the motel and interviewing witnesses.
“Currently we are very early in the investigation and believe this to be an isolated incident,” said Sgt. Johnson of JSO’s Robbery and Violent Crime Unit.
