JSO investigating early-morning shooting on Edgewood Avenue

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating an early-morning shooting that left one man with a gunshot wound Saturday.

JSO’s Violent Crimes Unit said officers responded to the 200 block of Edgewood Avenue South at approximately 3:15 a.m. in reference to shots fired in the area.

“Approximately an hour and a half later, an adult male walked into a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg,” JSO said. “The injury the victim sustained was considered non-life-threatening.”

JSO said the initial investigation revealed the victim was in the area when the shooting occurred.

“The initial investigation revealed the victim was hanging out in the area when an unknown individual approached him and fired multiple shots in his direction,” JSO said. “Afterwards, the suspect fled the area in a dark sedan.”

Officers detained four individuals at the scene and are trying to determine their involvement.

Detectives canvassed the area for video surveillance and spoke with witnesses.
