FERNANDINA BEACH, FLA. – The Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival is this weekend, and if you’re planning to attend the parade, you’ll want to know about some key traffic and parking changes before you head out.

Parade staging, road closures set for Thursday

The parade kicks off Thursday, April 30, with Central Park serving as the staging area. The area surrounding Central Park will close at 4:00 p.m.

Parade participants are advised to enter the staging area westbound on South 13th Street or northbound on South 11th Street. No eastbound traffic will be permitted at South 10th Street and Beech Street, and South 11th Street at Atlantic Avenue will be closed to all traffic.

Parking restrictions go into effect Thursday afternoon

Ahead of the parade, parking will be restricted on Ash Street and South 2nd Street from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday. Parking will also be restricted on Centre Street from Front Street to 2nd Street as crews prepare for a special Thursday edition of Sounds On Centre.

Festival closures begin Friday morning

Centre Street and downtown side streets will officially close for the festival at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 1. Drivers should note that tow trucks will begin removing illegally parked vehicles at noon.
