Jacksonville man accused of manslaughter for role in fatal dog attack on the Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 62-year-old man is accused of manslaughter for his role in a deadly dog attack in 2024 on the Westside, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said on Tuesday.

Officials said on Aug. 31, 2024, officers responded to a call for a dead person on Ricker Road. They found Ronald Coffman, 59, suffering from multiple dog bite. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department said Coffman died from his injuries.

Investigators said Souffrount’s repeated negligent actions led to Coffman’s death.

On Monday, Souffrount was charged with manslaughter and was arrested later that evening.
