JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville man is facing a felony charge after police say he followed a woman into an elevator at a Southside apartment complex and held her at knifepoint in an attempt to rape her, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

Brett Pincomb, 31, was booked into the Duval County jail on Saturday and charged with attempted armed sexual battery on a victim 12 years of age or older.

According to JSO, the incident occurred Friday, in the early morning hours, at Point Meadows Place Apartments. Investigators said the woman arrived at the complex by Uber, intending to meet someone she believed to be a man named Brian.

When her Uber pulled up, officers said Pincomb was standing on the sidewalk outside the building. She said Pincomb approached her and asked for the time.

Once inside the elevator, the victim said she noticed Pincomb had followed her. According to the report, after the elevator doors closed, Pincomb pulled a knife from his pocket and ordered her to remove her clothing.

Investigators said the woman was able to briefly distract Pincomb and push the emergency call button inside the elevator. When an operator answered over the speaker, she screamed that he was trying to rape her.

Police said Pincomb ran away when the elevator doors opened on the second floor. The victim went home and called police.

Officers say they later detained Pincomb on the sidewalk at the Point Meadows Place property.

According to the report, he admitted to following the victim into the elevator and holding her at knifepoint, stating his plan was to rape her in the elevator, but her resistance stopped him from following through with it.

Pincomb also told investigators he had sexually battered or attempted to sexually batter five additional victims, using a knife or a taser, according to the report.

JSO records showed Pincomb was facing charges across four separate cases, with multiple charges of armed sexual battery.
