Deadly crash at 103rd Street and I-295 ramp: FHP says driver ran red light

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 50-year-old Jacksonville man was killed in a crash at 103rd Street and the Interstate 295 northbound entrance ramp, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the man was driving a sport utility vehicle westbound on 103rd Street around 3:35 a.m. when he ran a red light and slammed into another SUV that was eastbound and turning left onto the I-295 northbound ramp.

After the impact, FHP said the 50-year-old’s SUV rotated and overturned. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver, an 18-year-old Jacksonville man, was not hurt, troopers said.
FHP said the 50-year-old was not wearing a seat belt. Next of kin has been notified.
