Woman pleads not guilty to child sex trafficking

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville mother indicted on federal child sex trafficking charges pleaded not guilty Thursday.

Lisa C. Glass, 38, was arrested in February on drug possession and prostitution charges. She faces from 10 years to life in prison if convicted on the federal charges.

Glass recruited, enticed, harbored and transported a girl in order to use her in commercial sexual activity in Duval and Clay counties, according to the indictment.

Federal documents said the girl was younger than 18 and the crimes happened between May and September of 2015.

The I-TEAM looked into Glass' background and found that her troubles started a few years ago.

In a handwritten letter sent to a Duval County judge, Glass said her husband left her and their five children in 2013.

She claimed he filed for divorce and left them without money, causing them to lose their home. She said, "I had always been a stay-at-home mom the 16 years we were married. ... We were forced to stay with friends until something comes up that will get us a home again."

Just 15 months later, investigators allege she began trafficking a young girl.

News4Jax also uncovered an arrest report from last month. Jacksonville police arrested Glass during an internet prostitution sting.

Officers said they met Glass at a gas station off Blanding Boulevard and took her and another woman into custody on misdemeanor prostitution and drug charges.

Glass is being held in the Nassau County jail for the U.S. Marshals Office.
