Man accused of McDonald's bathroom assault found not competent

Keith Sykes, 34, has competency review scheduled for May 16

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A homeless man accused of sexually battering a child in a McDonald's restroom in 2015 was found not competent for prosecution in November, according to court documents obtained Wednesday. 

Keith Sykes was sent to a state psychiatric hospital for treatment.

In August 2015, a 6-year-old boy was molested in the bathroom of the McDonald's on Emerson Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. 

Police said they arrested Sykes, 34, who was found hiding in a dumpster.

Sykes is charged with capital child sexual battery, loitering and prowling and possession of marijuana. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in September 2015.

He has a competency review scheduled for May 16.
