The man who started the verbal argument left the area then returned with a knife. Deputies said the man brandished the knife and then threatened the life of the man washing his car.

"That's when the citizen, who is a concealed weapons holder, pulled out his firearm and shot the suspect in the arm. The suspect ended up going to a nearby fire station (and) getting treated. "We got out here, the suspect is now in custody, the citizen is okay," said Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Chris Brown.

Deputies are interviewing witnesses who were in the area at the time of the shooting. They said they do not know what led to the argument.

The suspect's gunshot wound was reportedly non-life-threatening.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Aggravated Battery Unit is investigating.
