Man shot in robbery attempt at front foor of his Wetside apartment

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was shot near his front door as he arrived to his Westside apartment shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

The victim had just arrived home at the Canterbury Gardens Apartments at 1500 Lane Avenue when the suspect attempted to rob the victim. During the course of the robbery, the victim was shot once in the leg. The injury was called life threatening by police.

The victim was armed and fired back as the suspect. It is not known if the suspect was hit by gunfire, according to police.

Officers searched the area, but did not locate the suspect.
