86% of parents think cost of education is out of control, new survey says
Most parents say schools are asking too much when it comes to their back-to-school shopping list, according to a new WalletHub survey.
According to the survey, 70% believe schools want families to buy too much, and 86% of parents think the cost of education is out of control. In addition, 52% said they expect to pay more than last year.

Back-to-school spending is expected to reach an estimated nearly $40 billion — with families on average spending $875 per student on clothing, shoes, electronics and necessary school supplies.
When it comes to saving money, coupons are the most popular method, followed by applying for a new credit card or shopping during a sales tax holiday.
