After much debate, the Green Cove Springs City Council voted to keep the millage rate the same at 5.3 during Tuesday’s meeting.
During public comment, several residents advocated for a 5.1613 millage rate, citing that property taxes have already increased.

The council considered but ultimately decided against it as the proposed budget was based on a 5.3 mill rate.
The motion passed 4-1. Council Member Stutts voted no.

According to Financial Director Sue Wang, the proposed mill impact on fund balance would be an additional $104,000 with a 3% COLA raise for employees.
The total annual operating budget for the City of Green Cove Springs for Fiscal Year 2026 is $61,228,941, which is $3,543,971, or 5.5% less than Fiscal Year 2025.
