Legal expert who has investigated Cuban government corruption breaks down latest tensions with US

It seems tension between Cuba and the U.S. will rise amid reports that Raúl Castro, Cuba’s 94-year-old former president, may soon face indictment. Word is, Washington is preparing that indictment against him.

It would require confirmation by a grand jury and appears tied to the 1996 downing of two small planes belonging to a Cuban exile group called Brothers of the Rescue. The aircraft, which had been searching for rafters fleeing across the Florida straits, had flown over Havana to drop leaflets when they were intercepted by a Cuban jet.

As a result, the communist-led island state just 90 miles off the coast of Florida is preparing for the worst.

Florida attorney Lindsey Lazopoulos Friedman, with Holtzman Vogel, joined us on The Morning Show to discuss the stake in this for Florida and Cuban Americans.

She has represented private individuals against the Republic of Cuba and participated in investigations of corruption by the Cuban government.
