Saturday morning Sam Deputy posted for those interested to meet at the Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 913 Reid Street at 5:00 p.m. because Monday morning this historical church is slated to be demolished. Only a few people gathered to take one last photo before another piece of history vanishes from downtown Palatka.
Today is the first day of the 2025 Wolfson Children's Hospital Bass Tournament. This morning is Lads and Lasses which is open to male/female teams ONLY and is a great opportunity for new and experienced anglers to get involved and ready for Saturday's main event. One registration includes 2 boaters. Weigh-ins begin at 3 p.m. at the stage near the clocktower.
Congratulations to the St. Johns River State College Softball team defeating Central Alabama Community College yesterday in a best-of-three series yesterday starting at 1 p.m. yesterday where they handily defeated their opponents at the first game winning SJRSC-8, Central Alabama-4. Second game started at 3:30 p.m. only to be delayed during the 5th inning due to lightening in the surrounding area. Game restarted at 6:30 p.m. and went 9 innings for a final score of SJRSC-14, Coastal Alabama-10. It was a real nail biter! They are the winners of the NJCAA Division II South District Championship and now they go on to the NJCAA Division II World Series to be held in Oxford, Alabama where they will be defending their title. World Series is May 19th-May 24th. CONGRATULATIONS LADIES ON JOB WELL DONE!!!
