JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It was a big milestone for a local organization that's dedicated to helping people in the community.

Hope Haven Children's Clinic celebrated 90 years of helping children and families with special needs Monday evening.

People got the chance to tour the facility on Beach Boulevard and hear from Hope Haven as well as community speakers.

Families got up and danced together and kids were able to get temporary tattoos.

The people at the event were also among the first to see the company's new logo.

News4Jax spoke with one local family who said when their son was diagnosed with Down syndrome, Hope Haven became a place where they could learn and grow.

“We started therapies here when he was a baby and we've been here since. Really it's our home away from home. He's grown so much here,” said Shenera Smith.

Hope Haven was founded in 1926 as a children’s hospital. The organization provides 5,000 families with educational and therapeutic services every year.
