Armada midfielder Jack Blake named NASL Young Player of the Year

Englishman led Jacksonville with 9 goals

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Armada midfielder Jack Blake was selected as the NASL Young Player of the Year Wednesday.

The North American Soccer League does not award a rookie of the year, instead the league selects a "Young Player of the Year," which it awards to the most outstanding player under the age of 23.

Blake, 23, lead the Armada with nine goals and his precision distribution on set pieces and corner kicks led to four assists. Blake accomplished the season despite missing time after an appendectomy.

The Nottingham Forest product started 25 games and came on as a sub in two others. Blake's highlights included the first hat trick in club history when he scored three goals against Indy Eleven on August 26. Two of the goals were scored on free kicks in that game, showcasing Blake's outstanding control.
