1. (1) Beachside (4-1, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Episcopal, New Smyrna Beach, South Walton.

Notable: The Barracudas swept New Smynra Beach in their only action since our last Super 6. They’ve got perhaps their most challenging regular season local opponent of the year Thursday when they visit No. 2 Ponte Vedra. Adriana Jeanpierre (74 kills), Mollie VanDeusen (45 kills, 83 assists) and Erica Duffy (82 assists, 32 kills) lead the way for Beachside.

2. (2) Ponte Vedra (5-4, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Boca Raton Christian, Bolles, Daphne (Ala.), Ridgeview.

Notable: The Sharks went 4-4 since our last Super 6. All four losses came to high-quality teams (Carrollwood Day, Lake Highland Prep, Tampa Prep and Osceola). They had solid Ws against Ridgeview and Daphne. Big one on tap against No. 1 Beachside on Thursday. Avery Webb (second-team All-News4JAX) and honorable mentions Leah Grall and Lily Keely. Ellie Decker had 11 kills in the win over Bolles and Haydin Froehlich had 40 assists.

3. (3) Bishop Kenny (7-2, Class 4A)

Quality wins: Creekside, Mountain Brook (Ala.), Providence, Riviera Prep, Strawberry Crest, True North.

Notable: A 4-2 stretch since our last Super 6, mostly at the Nike Invitational. All high-quality Ws there, and losses to only a 6-1 La Cueva (New Mexico) and Trinity Christian. They’re back in action Sept. 9 at Bolles. libero Mattie Wilkey (52 kills), Lilian Heldenbrand (49 kills) and Chelsea Akakatang (44 kills) are powering Kenny at the net.

4. (4) Providence (3-1, Class 2A)

Quality win: Trinity Christian.

Notable: Just one match since our last Super 6, a sweep of Creekside on Tuesday night. They’ve got St. Johns Country Day on Thursday night to round out the week. Their best win is over Trinity, a 3-0 sweep, so I’m keeping the Stallions ahead of the Conquerors this week.

T5. (5) Fleming Island (5-1, Class 5A)

Quality wins: Bolles, Fletcher, Mandarin, Ridgeview.

Notable: Wins over Bolles and Mandarin since our last Super 6 and a 3-1 loss to powerhouse Santa Fe. Creekside on Thursday is the next match up for the Golden Eagles. Lauren Brosky (71 kills) and Lillie Eason (60 kills) lead the attack. Setter Hazel Williams has 109 assists in six matches.

T5. (6) Trinity Christian (7-4, Class 2A)

Quality wins: Bishop Kenny, Christ’s Church, Gainesville, Middleburg, St. Augustine, Timber Creek.

Notable: Trinity went 3-3 at the Nike Invitational, beating BK, Gainesville and Timber Creek. The losses were high quality defeats (Mount Paran Christian, Ga., Merritt Island and Northside Christian). Solid win over Christ’s Church, too. They’re back in action on Thursday at Oakleaf.
